About the Owner
My
name is Kelly Ewing. I purchased the
Hill Manor in 1999 with the intention of restoring this magnificent property to
its original grandeur (and more!) with the idea of running a Bed &
Breakfast and wedding venue. My life
before Hill Manor was corporate event planning for AT&T and Lucent
Technologies which gave me a great background to get started in the wedding
business. Since the grand opening in
July of 2000 the Hill Manor has hosted hundreds of weddings and also rehearsal
dinners, bridal showers, corporate parties, meetings, and holiday parties as
well…My job here is so wonderful in part because I get to meet so many
interesting people.
I
am getting better at “blogging.” Any
comments or ideas you have that I could put on my blog are always welcome!

Why host your
wedding at the Hill Manor Bed & Breakfast?
Although the Hill Manor has hosted weddings of well over 200 guests it is becoming apparent that more intimate weddings are the top trend in 2010.
From the Spring 2010 issue of Innkeeping
Quarterly Magazine – The Rise of the Small Wedding
by Cristina Friedrichen
“Brides want their weddings to stand out. They don’t want cookie cutter. They want to personalize every last detail.” “Brides will still want their red carpet moment but they will plan their weddings with a more practical, down-to-earth mindset. Think smaller, more intimate weddings with bigger, more dramatic details…” “Romantic inns and bed and breakfasts offer a charming alternative to larger banquet halls and event spaces. It’s much easier to create a unique atmosphere in a space that’s already full of character!” “The charm that a small wedding can offer is not the only reason small is big: another factor is the economy. Many couples have been impacted by the economy.” “They’d rather put their money towards a down payment on a house, than the extravagant shindig with 100+ guests.” “For other couples, it’s all about the intimacy of a small wedding. These couples have been to enough large weddings to know that a mile long receiving line is not for them.” “And they want to be surrounded by the people who matter most in their lives.”
Maybe I am doing this backwards….scroll down to
see posts and also please check us out on Hill Manor’s FaceBook….still
learning how to keep up with the new trends….but we have weddings down to
perfection!

I am in the process of ramping up the Hill Manor Facebook page. I am also still learning how FB works for business pages. And it seems like they change the way things work so often it’s hard to keep up! Any wedding planning ideas or photos you could post on this page would be most welcome.
I got a tip from one of my advertisers, atlantabridal.com, to ask questions of future brides to get your feedback and hopefully your thoughts and answers can help other brides and visa/versa…
Here are some of the questions I had in mind….if you have others you think will be helpful for brides please post them.
Question: What items would you put on a wedding day checklist?
Question: Are moonwalks O.K. at weddings?
Question: If you are inviting children to your wedding should you hire a babysitter to watch over them?
Question: What is the one photo you shouldn’t miss?
Question: Are bride’s still having trash the dress photo sessions?
Question: Should bride’s hide tattoos on the wedding day?
Question: What’s on your honeymoon packing list?

Had a wonderful wedding this weekend! Lara and John had the perfect day at the Hill Manor for about 80 guests for ceremony and reception! Thank you all!
Kelly,
I just
wanted to share with you and Glen what a wonderful experience we had at our
daughter, Shannon and (new son-in-law) Matthew's wedding on June 9th @ 6:30.
You both
were readily available and I have had so many positive comments about what a beautiful
venue Hill Manor was. Guests continue to share how beautiful
the grounds were, the delicious food, and what a lovely place to have a wedding.
Thank you for all of your coordination with John and I
in preparation for such an important milestone in our daughter's life. I
can honestly say I have never seen
You and
Glen made that possible!
Thanks
again,
Patsy and
John
