About the Owner
My
name is Kelly Ewing. I purchased the
Hill Manor in 1999 with the intention of restoring this magnificent property to
its original grandeur (and more!) with the idea of running a Bed &
Breakfast and wedding venue. My life
before Hill Manor was corporate event planning for AT&T and Lucent
Technologies which gave me a great background to get started in the wedding
business. Since the grand opening in
July of 2000 the Hill Manor has hosted hundreds of weddings and also rehearsal
dinners, bridal showers, corporate parties, meetings, and holiday parties as
well…My job here is so wonderful in part because I get to meet so many
interesting people.
I
am new at “blogging” so all entries are very recent and hopefully will grow
numerous over the next few months. I’ll
post comments on current events and follow brides and grooms in their planning
for their upcoming weddings at the Hill Manor.

Why host your
wedding at the Hill Manor Bed & Breakfast?
Although the Hill Manor has hosted weddings of well over 200 guests it is becoming apparent that more intimate weddings are the top trend in 2010.
From the Spring 2010 issue of Innkeeping
Quarterly Magazine – The Rise of the Small Wedding
by Cristina Friedrichen
“Brides want their weddings to stand out. They don’t want cookie cutter. They want to personalize every last detail.” “Brides will still want their red carpet moment but they will plan their weddings with a more practical, down-to-earth mindset. Think smaller, more intimate weddings with bigger, more dramatic details…” “Romantic inns and bed and breakfasts offer a charming alternative to larger banquet halls and event spaces. It’s much easier to create a unique atmosphere in a space that’s already full of character!” “The charm that a small wedding can offer is not the only reason small is big: another factor is the economy. Many couples have been impacted by the economy.” “They’d rather put their money towards a down payment on a house, than the extravagant shindig with 100+ guests.” “For other couples, it’s all about the intimacy of a small wedding. These couples have been to enough large weddings to know that a mile long receiving line is not for them.” “And they want to be surrounded by the people who matter most in their lives.”
